Of the many groups to settle at Club New Sparta, the Pirates of the Melpomene are possibly the most crucial to the space's wellbeing. After the God Ocean of their home planet, Krete, began to dry up due to a changing climate, all the pirate bands from the many shores united in search of a new home.

After what felt like an eternal journey, the pirates found New Sparta. They are among the ship's few permanent residents, paying for their lodging by working in the nightclub.

The pirates serve as bouncers, bartenders, chefs, and even DJs on the ship, catering to the many guests who arrive from the Empire while carefully concealing the fact that their origins lie outside Imperial jurisdiction.
